I was born and raised in Southern California
before all the freeways became totally gridlocked. I was very active in athletics, music and the boy scouts.
From UCLA and USC, respectively, I came with an encyclopedia of learning experiences.
The fewest of which may very well have been in the classroom. During this time I was a member of the highly competitive
ski team, placed on social probation, married, made the Dean's List, won Uncle Sam's infamous draft lottery, and made the
grade for my California state contractor's license.
From college I jumped right into the international business world. I have done
business with almost every country and traveled to most. Starting my multi-national experience as an AFS foreign exchange
student, I enjoy seeing the world and meeting new people. Everyone mentions how different doing business in each of
the international countries must be. True, it is different, but one must also consider how many different marketing
areas within North America are influenced by the variety of local culture. Doing business in South Louisianna vs. Texas
is as different as negotiating a deal in Mongolia compared to finalizing the same deal in Tokyo.
Most of my career has been working either in sales or general management positions.
I have worked in 7 disitinct industries, which provided my family with a nomadic existence. I've been involved in start-up
entrepreneurial ventures, Fortune 100 corporations and every operation in between.
I get passionate about business, but my true professional love is teaching. I
love teaching because I learn so much. I don't care how much time an educator spends thinking of every concievable student's
question, the pupil always comes up with a perception you could never have anticipated. Seminars, key note speeches,
lectures, class room instruction, the one thing I make sure I tell the group is that it's ok to disagree with me. My
presence is to generate thought, not dictate rote messages.
My biggest passion is my family. I am most proud of each one of
the diverse group of individuals which share my last name. No one is alike, not even our identical twins. I have
been able to enjoy every step forward and the occasional step back from this artistic, athletic, nomadic family.
Each of us has the common vision of realized goals and aspirations without settling for second best or controlling the individual
enlightments.
